Ingredients
500 g (1 lb) lean lamb mince
1 medium egg, beaten
2 tbsp. ground cumin
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 tbsp. paprika
2 tbsp. fresh or dried dill,
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 red onion, finely chopped
400 g (14 oz) tin chopped tomatoes
120 ml (5 fl oz) chicken stock
1 tbsp honey
400 g (14 oz) tin chickpeas, wash and drained
Pine nuts and fresh dill for garnish
Method
- In a large bowl mix the lamb mince, egg and 1 tbsp of ground cumin, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tbsp paprika and 1 tbsp of dill. Mix well.

Form around 16 meatballs. Heat a heavy casserole pan with the olive oil on a medium heat, add the meatballs and cook for 10 minutes until golden. Remove from the pan and set aside. -
In the same pan add the onion and garlic and cook for 2-3 mins until softened. Add in the rest of the spices, the chopped tomatoes, chicken stock, honey and season with salt and black pepper to taste. -
Return the meatballs to the pan, cover and cook for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, add the chickpeas and cook for 15 minutes more. -
Serve with pine nuts and fresh dill.
