Ingredients
1 tbsp oil
2 onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
20 g (4 tsp) garlic, chopped
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp cumin
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground cloves
½ tsp chilli powder
½ tsp black pepper
800 g (1.5 lbs) lean beef mince
75 g (3 oz) raisins
100 g (4 oz) green or black olives, sliced
800 g (1.5 lbs) chopped tomatoes
30 ml (2 tbsp) white wine vinegar
Method
- To make the picadillo you’ll need to start things off by heating the oil in a large pan on a medium/high heat

Add the onions and pepper to the pan and fry for a couple of minutes. -
Add the garlic, cinnamon, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, ground cloves, chilli powder and black pepper and fry for a further minute. -
Add the mince to the pan and cook for a few minutes until it has browned. -
Add the raisins, olives, chopped tomatoes, vinegar and mix through -
Cover with a lid, reduce the heat to low and simmer for around 40 minutes until the sauce has thickened -
Serve.
